Personally, I've always been a spontaneous, "intuitive" poster, when it comes to socials. I do think it's one of the reasons it's remained a passion - I try not to overthink and be a perfectionist, I don't like the idea of being forced to post something because I decided a few days ago that it was on the "schedule". I think it's part of being a more creative thinker too - we post more emotionally. And I like seeing what the audience is interested in at the time and letting that guide me. I'm not saying my way is the best way - there are definitely advantages to doing things in a more structured way and keeping track of the trends! Let's dig deeper though.
Posting intuitively means creating content that is true to you and aligns with your beliefs, values, and personal brand. It is all about sharing what you are passionate about and being true to yourself. On the other hand, posting according to the trends means creating content that is popular or viral. It involves analyzing what is currently doing the rounds, and creating content that falls in line with that trend.
Both approaches have their pros and cons, and it is important to understand them to become a balanced digital creator.
Posting Intuitively:
Pros:
Authenticity: When you post intuitively, you are more likely to create content that is authentic and true to your character. This is because you are creating content based on your beliefs, values, and personal brand.
Connection: When you share what you are passionate about, you are more likely to connect with others who share the same interests. This can lead to building a strong community of like-minded individuals.
Unique Voice: When you post intuitively, you have the opportunity to showcase your unique voice and perspective. This can help you stand out from others who may be posting according to trends.
Cons:
Limited Reach: Posting intuitively can limit your reach, as your content may not appeal to everyone. This can make it harder to grow your audience.
Lack of Direction: Posting intuitively may lead to a lack of direction and focus in your content. This can make it harder to establish a clear brand or message.
Missed Opportunities: When you only post intuitively, you may miss out on opportunities to create content around popular trends or topics.

Posting According to Trends:
Pros:
Increased Reach: Posting according to trends can increase your reach, as your content is more likely to appeal to a wider audience.
Opportunity for Virality: Trending topics and hashtags have the potential to go viral, which can lead to increased visibility and engagement.
Improved Branding: Posting according to trends can help establish your brand as relevant and up-to-date.
Cons:
Lack of Authenticity: When you focus on creating content solely based on trends, you may sacrifice your authenticity and unique voice.
Short-Term Success: Posting according to trends may lead to short-term success, but it may not necessarily lead to long-term growth and success.
Saturation: Posting according to trends may lead to oversaturation of similar content, which can make it harder to stand out. And standing out is what we WANT!
In conclusion, both posting intuitively and posting according to trends have their advantages and disadvantages. It is essential to strike a balance between the two and create content that is both authentic and relevant. Ultimately, the key to success on social media is to create content that resonates with your audience and aligns with your brand.
